SalmonAtion 2019
Kwiaht scientists and Lopez community volunteers celebrate the successful completion of ten years of path-breaking research on the Chinook salmon food web in the San Juan Islands–salmon, forage fish, marine mammals, seabirds, humble plankton–and report new findings on Blackmouth salmon and the biology of “bait balls,” the strange sex life of Pacific Sand Lance, and evidence that climate change is making plankton more abundant but much less diverse! And there will be great food from Vita’s, wine from Lopez Island Vineyards, music and more… stimulation for the mind, the palate and the ear. Join your local laboratory for the science behind stewardship for two entertaining hours that may change the way you think about the marine environment, killer whales, and living on Lopez!
Food, wine, and music!
