Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival on Lopez

The annual Lopez Concert leads the final weekend of the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival, and it promises to be a genuine treat– another World Premiere! We are honored to welcome Pulitzer Prize winning composer Kevin Puts to the Lopez stage. OICMF is the lead commissioner of Mr. Puts’ new piece, composed for and performed by the Miró Quartet.

In addition to the Quartet we welcome back OICMF Artistic Director and violinist/violist Aloysia Friedmann and Artistic Advisor and pianist Jon Kimura Parker, along with violinists Martin Chalifour and Chee-Yun, and we give a warm Lopez welcome to violinist Robyn Bollinger, guitarist Mak Grgić, and cellist Julian Schwarz. In addition to the world premiere quartet, the concert features Air for violin and piano, also by Kevin Puts; selections for violin and guitar, and works by Hugo Wolf and Ernest Chausson.

A Free Pre-Concert talk by Kevin Puts precedes the concert at 4:30 PM!

Please note that the doors will close at the start of the Pre-Concert Talk. The hall will be cleared at the close of the talk and will re-open at 5:10 to admit ticketed concert attendees.

Tickets are available beginning May 16th online at www.lopezcenter.org, Paper Scissors on the Rock, and at the Lopez Bookshop. The OICMF on Lopez booth at the Lopez Farmers Market will open Saturday June 1st for ticket sales and information. Tickets are $30 for Adults, and $10 for those 18 and under. Festival tickets are non-refundable and sell out quickly. Get them early! Any remaining or returned ticket are sold at the door.

Open Rehearsal for Seniors at Orcas Center is Friday August 16, at 1:00 PM. No volunteer is currently available to make arrangements for Lopez Seniors to travel together for lunch at the Orcas Island Senior Center and the rehearsal. Please contact Micki at 360-468-4442 or at the Lopez Farmers Market if you can coordinate this special day-long event.

Other volunteers are needed for the concert production: our hardworking Riser Raisers are beginning to suffer from too many birthdays! Please pair up with them and help get those risers up and down. No risers, no view of the stage; they are important.

Many, many thanks to friends, donors, sponsors and glorious volunteers! YOU make the difference! To volunteer or to donate in any amount please contact Micki by email at lopez@oicmf.org, or donate directly to www.oicmf.org, noting that your donation is in support of the Lopez concert. All donated funds pay for the concert on Lopez Island. Be a BIG hero by making a tax deductible $700 contribution to bring the Artists to Lopez– and join the artists for dinner after the concert!
