This is the last program of the Coast Salish Speaker Series.

Sam Barr – Lopezian, Samish tribal member, and canoe skipper for Stillaguamish tribe, presents information on Tribal Canoe Journeys with some perspective on historical and contemporary practice. He will discuss the importance of canoes as a vessel of cultural revitalization within Coast Salish communities. Question and answer session to follow.

This series is presented in support of the 2018 Intertribal Canoe Journey which stops on Lopez Island in July and is sponsored by the Lopez Island Library, San Juan Island Library, San Juan Islands National Monument, and San Juan County Parks. Due to a generous San Juan County LTAC grant, these programs are free to the public.
