Our Commitment to Sustainability

Tour de Lopez continues to lead the way as a low-waste event

By focusing on reusable, compostable, and recyclable materials, we’re working to keep our island beautiful. Last year, the entire event generated only four bags of garbage for over 900 participants—a remarkable achievement we aim to surpass this year.

Exciting News

Tour de Lopez Proceeds Supporting a New Village Park Addition!

This year, proceeds from Tour de Lopez are making an even bigger impact! After covering the annual expenses of the public restrooms and shower house in the Village Park, all additional funds will go toward an exciting new addition—a public-covered picnic shelter!

Inspired by the beautiful, rustic shelter at Odlin Park’s upper group campsite, this new gathering space will be built using local lumber, peeled pole construction, and skilled local labor, all with deep respect for the land.

Your participation in Tour de Lopez directly supports this community project—thank you for helping us create a lasting space for all to enjoy in the heart of the Village!

  • Unscheduled Ferry Stop on Lopez April 26th: The Washington State Ferries have agreed to make an unscheduled stop on Lopez on the 7:30 AM ferry bound for Orcas. If you wish to make a reservation for this unscheduled stop, you must make a reservation from Anacortes to Orcas on the 7:30 AM sailing. When you arrive in Anacortes, with your reservation in hand, identify yourself as a Tour de Lopez participant with the ticket seller, and you will be charged the fare to Lopez and staged in the appropriate lane for the Lopez unscheduled stop.

Lunch will be provided by several local food trucks: David’s BBQ, El Taco ‘Bout It, and Poutine Your Mouth. We are excited to feature these three trucks and know there will be something delicious for everyone! You will receive a food voucher in your welcome packet at check-in that you can redeem at the food vendor of your choice.

And as always, there will be snacks, Holly B’s treats at all four rest stops along the ride, and something sweet to enjoy after lunch.

This year at Tour de Lopez, we will have two fantastic bands playing a range of styles and hits to create the vibe for the event. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes, because it’s sure to be a fun time!
