Note: There will NOT be a BBQ at the Center this year. Just want to give a heads up to locals and their visitors that the BBQ formerly held on July 4th at the Community Center will no longer be happening. There are still plenty of places to get a good meal after the parade. The Farmers Market will be in full swing, as will our restaurants and our three markets, Blossom, Southend and Lopez Village.
An electronically timed 10 K run, 5 K walk and run and a 1 Mile romp. Great t-shirts and prizes. Scenic courses through a pastoral setting with water views. Shirts have a Lopez Island scene. Enjoy the parade and other 4th of July activities in the village following the awards.

The 4th of July on Lopez Island has become one of Washington State's most treasured celebrations. Many come from all over the country to enjoy a "down home" themed parade and one of the most spectacular community funded fireworks displays you can find anywhere. The island rolls out the red carpet every 4th of July when they host what has become one of the "don't miss" events associated with the beautiful San Juan Islands. Make sure you plan ahead as it has, for good reason, become the busiest time getting to and from Lopez and lodging can fill up quite early in the year. What really makes this great event a success year after year are the multitude of volunteers and generous donations from both local businesses and individuals throughout the local community and families who come to Lopez to enjoy the show year after year.
Join us, for what has grown into a larger than life tradition, this 4th of July. It's a day packed with many events and activities, not to mention an island full of patriotism.
The fireworks start at 10:30PM sharp over FIsherman Bay.
NOTE: Bayshore Road to and from the Peninsula is closed during the fireworks and there may be delays earlier in the day as the fireworks are setup.
We would like to invite you to a gathering in the early morning of the 5th of July. What goes up comes down and must be cleaned up. This is a task that most of us would like to ignore, but it must be done! Please call 468-3479 if you would like to participate in this early morning gathering - or just show up at 8:30am. .
